Recent excavations in China have unearthed containers of old wines 3000 years. One of them contains, it seems, still fluid ...
1600-1046 BC : dominates the Shang Dynasty China. Yet, force to be consumed without moderation by officials of the country, the wine becomes a symbol of corruption. Considered by some historians as one of the causes of the fall of the Shang Dynasty, Zhou Dynasty, the wine is then stored in jars sealed with a bronze seal encouraging moderation.
These are the same type of containers that have been unearthed in China in Shaanxi Province, in the tomb of a nobleman of the Chinese Western Zhou Dynasty, called Western Zhou who were in power between 1046 and 771 BC. These containers would therefore almost 3000 years !
Gold, the six found in the tomb, one of them still contain the liquid, a fortiori of alcohol, and perhaps wine, ce qui en ferait l’un des plus vieux vins jamais découvert en Chine ! Archaeologists have not been able to open on site, detailed analyzes should be performed to define the nature of the liquid, analysis could also provide valuable information on the processes of making wine in China at that time.
